I made two very different rainbow pillows using this pattern and I love how both came out. The finished pillows measure about 13 inches wide by 9 inches tall.
For my first pillow, I decided to use a cotton pastel pink fabric for the front and white linen for the back. I hand-sewed pom pom fringe to the front of the pillow to make the arches of my rainbow. Here’s a link to the bucket of pom pom fringe I bought if you’d like to check it out.
Next, put the front/back (wrong sides together) and sewed the pillow together on a sewing machine using a 1/4-inch seam allowance. Leave at least 2 inches of an opening to turn inside out.
Finish by turning inside out, filling with poly-fil stuffing, and hand-sewed closed.
I think this pastel pillow came out so cute! It would make a great pillow for a little girl’s bedroom or even a baby show gift.
The second pillow I made out of rainbow bandanas I found at Target around St. Patrick’s Day. I love how the lines go straight across and the colors are bold and fun for this one. If you can’t find bandanas any rainbow patterned fabric would work.
