Turn a small tabletop gumball machine into a unique propagation vase. I found this one at the thrift store. It originally belonged to my kids, but after it sat unused for a while, I decided to give it a new purpose.

How To Turn a Gumball Machine Into A Propagation Vase – 3 Easy Steps

STEP 1:

To turn this old candy machine into a vase, I first had to dismantle it and decide which pieces to keep. I loved the red top but decided to put it aside for another upcycle project. Side note: I found this one at Goodwill, but antique stores and garage sales are also great places to find old bubble gum machines.

STEP 2:

To make a vase that would hold water, I decided to replace the original gumball machine’s glass globe with a Dollar Tree bubble vase. In my cabinet, I had two different vase sizes, and the smaller one—4.875″ size was a perfect fit.

To keep the vase from sliding, I glued a wood spool to the bottom as a makeshift pin. Below you can see that there is a threaded piece that sticks up on the red bubble gum machine base. The wood spool fits over this piece and keeps the vase from sliding. I like this idea because it makes the vase easy to remove and clean.

I used Silicone Caulk to adhere the spool to the bottom of the bubble vase. I’ve glued a lot of different materials together in my crafting journeys and found that clear silicone caulk works best for adhering most materials to glass especially when water is involved!
