This easy fall wire basket makeover is a simple way to create cozy, inexpensive gift baskets that can also be reused for storage. Fill them with seasonal treats like flavored coffee or candles for a thoughtful housewarming, teacher, or Thanksgiving hostess gift. Most of the supplies used here, including the baskets, yarn, and raffia, were found at Dollar Tree.
Fall Wire Basket With Pom Poms
I used a pom pom craft set to create the yarn pom poms for this project, which includes four sizes. You don’t need a pom pom tool—they can also be made by wrapping yarn around cardboard—but the maker keeps sizes consistent and speeds things up. Here are a few photos of the process.

Tying things together tightly at the center with a single piece of yarn and three overhand knots.

Use wire to attach your pom poms to a basket. I used 28-gauge steel wire.

Here’s another pic of my finished basket. I love how it came out and plan to make a few more to have on hand for gifts before the season gets busy.
