Try this easy Fall wire basket makeover with Pom Poms to add to your fall decor.
They also make awesome gift baskets that can later be used as a cute storage baskets. Fill them with flavored coffees or pumpkin spice scented candles to give to a special teacher or as a Thanksgiving hostess gift. I found these baskets and yarn for the pom poms at Dollar Tree.
I used a pom pom maker for this craft. With it, you can make pom poms in four different sizes… 1.4”, 1.8”, 2.5”, 3.4″. I love the textured look of these handmade pom poms — they’re perfectly imperfect! Here’s an link to the tool set I bought on Amazon if you’d like to take a look: Pom Pom Maker
After making a few of these, I recommend using small sharp scissors with a pointed end. I started out using dull tip scissors and couldn’t get under all the layers to cut.
For this basket I used twine, rafia and yarn for the pom poms and secured them to the basket with thin wire (28 gauge steel) that you can pick up at any hardware store.
Tip: For different textured pom poms try using tulle, cotton bakers twine, metallic gift wrap ribbon, even strips of fabric from old t-shirts!
