Santa’s coming to town and that calls for a Santa’s sleigh floral pick DIY!

I have an antique store booth and I love finding old globes. I often find them at garage sales or thrift stores and pick them up when they’re a good price.

Last year, I had a vintage globe on a wood stand and bought a plastic sleigh cake topper to decorate for Christmas. This year I made this silhouette paper craft version to decorate this brass tabletop globe.

The great thing about making a sleigh pick is that you can size them to fit any project (or globe) you have in mind. If you don’t have a Globe, you could make them to decorate Christmas packages, holiday centerpieces, and planters. Below are all the details!

How To Make A Santa’s Sleigh & Reindeer Floral Pick

You’ll need a Santa’s Sleigh and Reindeer Silhouette SVG cut file for this DIY. Use a silhouette you like or purchase the cut files from my Etsy shop. The link to the art in this tutorial is part of an instant download included in the Believe Santa’s Sleigh SVG.

STEP 1: Upload The File

Upload the Santa’s Sleigh Pick SVG to your cutting machine, duplicate the art, and cut the shapes out of lightweight cardstock. I used the Light Cardstock – 65 lbs. setting with Default Pressure in Cricut Design Space. Choose the settings that work with your machine.

STEP 2: Assemble

Cut a piece of wire about 12 inches long (longer to make a larger pick or to make the ends longer). Shape the wire into an arch and bend it with about 2 inches of straight wire on both ends.

Attache the first set of pieces to the underside of the wire with tacky glue. Let the glue set before proceeding to the next step.

Tip: Work on waxed paper so your pick can be easily pulled away from your work surface.

Use tacky glue to glue the cardstock cutouts of Santa's Sleigh and four Reindeer to the underside of an arched wire. The wire show has two straight ends and is arched in the middle. The ends can be attached to the cradle mount of a globe (taped on with clear tape so it can be removed easily after the holidays) or stuck into a planter or foam or any other display you dream up!

Apply more tacky glue and place the second set of cutouts overtop. Let dry completely before going to the next step.

Use more tacky glue to glue the second set of Santa's Sleigh and Reindeer cardstock cut outs over top of the first set.

STEP 3: Add The Finishing Touches

Paint the wire with black acrylic paint. To add sparkle, coat the outside with Mod Podge, and sprinkle with glitter (optional). Attach the pick to a globe cradle mount with clear tape.
